how to make dalgona sugar candy / Squid Game

Let's find out how to make dalgona introduced in the hot squid game on Netflix.

Dalgona is a snack that I have enjoyed in Korea for a long time.

It's a real Korean way to make dalgona.

If you follow the method below, you can make dalgona quickly without fail.

Let's get started!

Material & ingredients

Essential

1. Ladle

The ladle should be made of stainless steel, not silicone.

This is because you have to heat it directly.

2. Sugar

Any sugar is fine. Because dalgona is yellow, it is easy to mistake that yellow sugar should be used. However, it is also possible with white sugar.

3. Baking Soda

You only need a small amount of baking soda.

Additional

1. Cookie Cutters

2. Professional Tool to Press it

3. Needle

All of the above items are needed, and if you want to give it a try, it's a good idea to purchase Amazon's dalgona set product.

1. Put paper foil on the tray. If you don't have paper foil, sprinkle baking soda or flour thinly and widely on a wide tray. (I'm going to pour the liquid dalgona)

2. Add 2 spoons of sugar to the ladle and dissolve until transparent. Adjust the amount of sugar according to the amount of dalgona you want to make. The sugar can burn, so melt it on low heat.

3. If the sugar melts and becomes transparent, add a very small amount of baking soda (0.1 teaspoons).

4. Stir until it turns ocher color (with the heat removed). It's going to swell up little by little. If it doesn't swell, the ladle needs to be heated up a little more. If you heat it for a long time, it'll burn and taste bitter. Be careful.

5. Pour it into a plate with paper foil or a plate with flour prepared in No. 1.

You can just eat it now. However, those who want to challenge the shape, such as in the squid game, can follow the next step.

6. If you want to take a picture of the shape, apply baking soda or flour to the press and gently press the cooled dalgona. (I tried sugar or sugar powder, but sometimes it melts in the heat and sticks to the press.)

Then it doesn't stick to the press and presses neatly. If you don't have a pushover, you can use a wide and flat tool (e.g., a frying pan).

7. Place the cookie cutter on top of the flattened dalgona and press it again.

Now, let's cut out the shape using a needle or a pointed tool, like in a squid game!
